Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today announced major organisational restructuring in its Punjab unit.

To build a "robust and extensive" organisation in Punjab, the party announced appointment of 13 observers and coordinators at zonal level and formed several wings to deepen its presence.

"To raise issues effectively, we need a strong organisation (in Punjab)," senior AAP leader and party's state observer Sanjay Singh said while addressing media here today.

Stating that party's format has been changed from district level to zonal level, Singh said 13 zones have been set up in the state.

"Nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency will be part of one zone each," Singh said.

He said that there would be 13 zonal in-charge for the party.

The party has also formed several wings for youth, women, farmer, trade and transport, legal, intellectual, NRI, ex-servicemen and student, he said.

Party has also appointed 13 zonal level and 39 sector level coordinators from Delhi for monitoring the functioning of organisation in the state.

"The team from Delhi will also use their experience to further strengthen the party in the state," he said.

However, he said that AAP Punjab Convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur will continue to play his present role in the party. "There will be no change in the state executive," Singh said.

"Our first job will be to appoint booth incharge in first 2-3 months," he said.

Like in Delhi, AAP will also start dialogue process with public in Punjab to find out their issues and problems which can be incorporated in the election manifesto.

"Dialogue will be initiated with farmers, youth, women to know their issues," he said.

"At present everybody wants to get rid of Badal government. Here police is being used against opponents by the party," he alleged adding that the state was facing major problems like drug abuse, farmers not getting remunerative prices, women security, unemployment.
