AAP candidate Jarnail Singh today filed his nomination papers from West Delhi seat and will take on Congress' sitting MP Mahabal Mishra and MLA Parvesh Verma of the BJP.

The former journalist is also known for hurling shoe at Union minister P Chidambaram in 2009 over the anti-Sikh riots issue.

"Everything is inter-connected here. We have to replace corrupt, criminal and communal people from entering Parliament as they are an impediment in the growth of the country.

"I had lost all hope in the system, but Arvind Kejriwal has reinforced my faith, which can be changed," Singh said.

The former journalist said that he was offered ticket by several parties and was asked to contest from Punjab after the shoe-hurling incident. He, however, refused to contest.

Interestingly, Singh has also some namesakes in the field.

AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar is also Jarnail Singh while another candidate with the same name is contesting as an Independent.
