In a memorandum to the minister, AAPSU said the absence of CBSE office in the state is causing lot of hardships to hundreds of poor students every year for minor problems like re-checking of exam results, obtaining lost certificates, mark sheets, correction of names, etc.
"Poor parents and students are subjected to lots of mental trauma and financial loss traveling all the way from Arunachal to Guwahati," it reasoned.
The problem has grown manifold in the recent times due to increase in students' population over the years, the union said adding it has necessitated the setting up of CBSE branch office in the state immediately.
Meanwhile, the union also urged the minister to direct his department for conducting extensive awareness programmes in order to sensitise students against various fake institutions offering engineering and medical courses.
