The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has rejected the proposal of the state government to constitute two enquiry committees - one headed by Agriculture Commissioner and the other by local ADC to probe into the Tawang police firing that claimed two lives.
"We cannot expect an independent report by these committees since they are directly controlled by the state government. We cannot rule out possibility of political involvement in the incident," AAPSU General Secretary Biru Nasi said in a statement today.
"We appreciate the chief minister's statement when he says that 'no amount of relief can compensate the loss but we must ensure that such tragedies do not recur in future. And for that the culprits need to be punished which will also ensure justice to the victims," Nasi said.
