Aaryan Zaveri of Baroda claimed a memorable double crown in the boys' section while local player Gargi Pawar, a wild card, claimed the girls' singles title at the Icon group-Arun Wakankar memorial ATF Asian U14 Series Tennis Tournament here today.

In a one-sided boys' final played at the MSLTA's School of Tennis in Mhalunge Balewadi, third-seeded Zaveri outplayed fourth-seeded Lucknow lad Rudra Kapoor 6-0 6-2.

Zaveri, a ninth standard student, claimed the doubles title as well in the company of Rajeshkannan Subramani. The duo trounced Nishant Dabas and Amaan Adil Tezabwala 6-1 6-1 in the doubles final.

In the corresponding girls' final, 13-year-old Gargi justified the organisers' faith in awarding her a wild card when she stopped the winning run of qualifier Mushrath Anjum Shaik, of the Sania Mirza Academy in Hyderabad, 6-3 6-2 in just over an hour.

Gargi, who trains in this city, varied her pace intelligently to outwit her opponent. It was her second major tile, having won a Super series event at Panchngani earlier .

"It was very good tournament for me. The final was the toughest game I played," said Gargi.

"I would like to give all credit to my coach. I came to the main draw as a qualifier and had a good week. Gargi Played really well today," said Mushrath.

She did not return empty-handed as she combined forces with her sister Mubashira to deny Gargi a double. The Hyderabad duo defeated Gargi and her partner Bela Tamhankar 6-4 6-4 in the girls' doubles summit contest.

The winners got 300 ATF points and a trophy, while the runners-up received 200 points and a trophy.

The tournament was organised by Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association.
