'Aavin' infrastructure to be developed at Rs 46 crore

Tamil Nadu government today announced a slew of measures to increase the efficiency of state-owned milk supplier 'Aavin' by developing its infrastructure at Rs 46.50 crore.

Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced that infrastructure for 'Aavin' would be developed at a cost of Rs 35.77 crore, which would benefit over two lakh milk producers and five lakh consumers.

The government would also increase the capacity of cattle fodder factory at Erode to 150 tonne per day at Rs 10.73 crore, she said, adding the move would benefit over four lakh members attached to the union.
 

The milk production of Tamil Nadu has increased to 23.22 lakh litre per day in 2013-14 from 20 lakh litre three years ago.
