Heaps of abandoned "country bombs" were seized from a tank at a village near here today, police said.
On information received by revenue officials from an anonymous source that 'enormous' amount of country bombs had been left at the Senkulam Kanmoi (tank) in Eenjar village, local tahsildhar and DSP Vellaiyan rushed there and found the bombs ingeniously made using cracker explosives and splinters.
Experts had been called to analyse the chemicals used in the bomb as they were capable of exploding when thrown, police said.
Revenue officials said rowdy elements would have abandoned them in the tank.
