A precious 'panchaloha' (five metal) idol was found abandoned at Duggaladka in Sullia on the way to Subramanya near here, police said.
The idol representing a female deity riding a tiger under a parasol was spotted on the wayside by locals and handed over to the Sullia police. The idol is expected to be of great value, they said.
Police said they are investigating various angles to the crime.
