ABB India today said it has signed an MoU with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR) to build a digital simulation center that will provide next level training for the manufacturing of various electro-mechanical equipment.

"The multi-physics Simulation Center of Excellence (SCoE) will enhance skill development for critical electro-mechanical equipment design and manufacturing, catalysing make in India," ABB said in a statement.

The SCoE will be the first of its kind for teachers, students and industry engineers to develop a deeper understanding of the underlying multi-physics and design principles for the manufacturing of various best in class electro-mechanical equipment in the country.

"The SCoE is our endeavour to build a robust eco-system of next level training and support technologies to further the design, development and manufacturing of critical electro-mechanical equipment in the country," ABB India Chief Technology Officer Giandomenico Testi said.

Such a center will provide an exposure, currently scarce, in the areas of modelling, simulations and design with expert guidance to engineers, scientists, researchers and faculties across industry oriented topics, he said.

The scope of the center, which will be funded by ABB, includes establishing a high performance computing platform with necessary advanced computational tools. The center is expected to be operational by 2017.
