Disney/ABC Television Group is endorsing Jimmy Kimmel as the host of the next Academy Awards telecast.
Chief Ben Sherwood said that ABC executives felt Kimmel did a great job on Emmy Awards and has shown that he can repeat the same at Academy Awards ceremony on February 26, reported Variety.
"We thought Jimmy elevated the Emmys. We thought Jimmy has earned it and we're very hopeful that Jimmy will get it. The Academy will come back to us and let us know what they are thinking," he said.
Sherwood, however, emphasized that the decision on the Oscar host and producing team rests with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
