A railway employee, who was abducted five days ago, was today rescued by the police and two of his abductors were arrested from Kharagpur town in West Midnapore district, a police officer said.
Superintendent of Police (West Midnapore) Bharati Ghosh said Debashish Mukherjee, a resident of Andul who worked at the Kharagpur railway workshop, was abducted five days ago.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Kharagpur town and rescued Mukherjee and arrested two of his abductors - Sujoy Bukli and Binod Gupta, the SP said.
The abductors had demanded Rs eight lakh ransom from Mukherjee's family for his release.
