A tea garden manager, who was allegedly kidnapped by a group of adivasi militants last week, was released near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, police said today.
Rathore, manager of the Pabhoi tea estate, was kidnapped by the group on January 16 and was released at Nawmorah along the inter-state border late last night, they said, adding the militants, however, have taken Rathore's wrist watch and mobile phone.
48-year-old Rathore, who hails from Rajasthan, told police that he was shifted to three places during his captivity and the militants demanded different amounts of money as ransom, they said.
Rathore was taken to his residence in the tea garden and later a medical examination was conducted, police, who were yet to ascertain the identity of the outfit, said.
