The body of a teenaged girl who was abducted by unidentified persons from Banjari village within Patan police station limits in Palamau district on March 24, was recovered from a river bed today, the police said.

A group of abductors in four motorcycles arrived in the village late March 24 night and barged into the house of Angita Kumar (15) and kidnapped her.

The girl was living with her grandmother.

The reason behind the kidnapping or the identity of the abductors have not been established as yet, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Hiralal Ravi.

The body has been sent for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital, Medininagar, he said.

Asked whether it was a case of rape and murder, Ravi said it could be confirmed only after receiving the post-mortem report.
