Abducted woman, baby rescued from HP; accused held

A woman and her baby who went missing about a month ago from Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, were rescued from Himachal Pradesh, police said today.

The alleged kidnapper was also arrested during a joint operation with Himachal Pradesh police, a senior police officer said.

According to the officer, Salwa Bhalwal, a resident of Sunderbani, lodged a complaint on January 14, alleging that his wife, along with a baby, had gone missing mysteriously on way to her parents' home.

A case was registered and during the course of investigation it came to the fore that the woman and her baby were kidnapped, the officer said.
 

He said the investigation team conducted raids at various places and finally recovered the abducted woman and the baby from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh.

The accused was arrested and further investigation is on, the officer said.
