Eight persons were today arrested on charges of abduction of a truck driver and a conductor of a truck and looting the consignment from Naunihat police station area of Dumka district, a senior police officer said.

The rod-laden truck of a transport company "Balaji Road Carrier" has left Salanpur of adjoining West Bengal for Purnea district of Bihar on 18th June but the driver and the conductor of the truck were abducted in Dumka district and kept in a confinement before they were released Saraiyahat police station area next day, said superintendent of police, Vipul Shukla.

Shukla said the abductors taken away the vehicles and sold the parts of consignment.
 

Out of the eight arrested, he said one accused Prakash Kumar was a resident of Kasmaha village under Baunshi police station of Banka district of Bihar while two others, who purchased the looted rods, were of Kauabaran of Banka district.

In course of the investigation, he said police arrested the accused persons and recovered the truck as well as parts of the consignment.

Apart, police also recovered a Bolero car, a motorcycle from them, he added.
