Congress member Abhijit Mukherjee apologised over a "fiasco" he made in the Lok Sabha today.
"Madam, I sincerely apologise for the fiasco that I made earlier. I am sorry for that and I apologize for that," Mukherjee said when the House met after lunch hour.
The member's apparent reference was his failure to deliver a speech when he was asked to initiate a debate on the Appropriation Acts (Repeal) Bill, 2015.

"There is some confusion in the mind of the member. Leave it. Mr (Rajiv Pratap) Rudy there is no need for you to comment," Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had then observed while helping the Congress member and advised the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs against speaking on the issue.
As Mukherjee was not prepared, she promptly asked P P Chaudhury of BJP to speak on the Bill.
Several Congress members, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, Deepender Hooda, immediately approached Mukherjee to understand why the understanding error occurred.
Later participating in the debate on the Bill, Mukherjee said he has no doubt that the Law Ministry has put in a lot of effort to put in various Acts that are listed in the repeal bill.
"I feel that those laws which are very old and not in use, should automatically lapse," he said.
