About 8 per cent growth in foreign tourist arrivals

Foreign tourist arrivals and foreign exchange earnings (FEE) from tourism have gone up considerably in July in comparison to the same period last year.

Forex earnings registered 6.3 per cent growth in July as the earnings touched Rs 8,920 crore mark in comparison to Rs 8,389 cr in July 2012, an increase by Rs 531 cr, according to a Tourism Ministry data.

Incredible India campaign attracted 5.24 lakh foreign tourists in July as against 4.86 lakh in July 2012, a growth of 7.9 per cent.

There were total 38.32 lakh foreign visitors during January to July as compared to 37.10 lakh for the same period last year, an increase of 3.3 per cent, the data said.
