Absconding for 12 yrs, UP murder convict nabbed from Haryana

A man charged with murder and absconding for 12 years was today arrested from Panchkula in Haryana by the Uttar Pradesh police.

Tarsem Singh, 45, of Pipariya Karam village under Gajraula police station area here had shot dead one Harvinder Singh of the same village on July 3, 2000, Superintendent of Police J K Shahi said.

Singh was arrested and sent to jail but after sometime he presented bail papers of the Allahabad High Court and came out and went missing since them, Shahi said.

On inquiry, the bail papers were found to be fake. A cash reward was of Rs five thousand was announced on him later, the SP said.
 

Singh was arrested by the Gajraula police personnel with the help of Haryana police and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), he added.
