Absconding former militant arrested

Police have arrested a former militant of Hizbul Mujahideen, who had been absconding since his release from jail and was wanted in a case of killing in Doda district.

On a specific information, police conducted a raid and arrested former militant from Doda yesterday and he was wanted in a case of killing, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Doda-Ramban-Kishtwar Range Nisar Ahmed said tonight.

The accused has been identified as Bashir Ahmed Lohar alias Bilal of Kashtigarh in Kuddhar tehsil of Doda district.

He was former Divisional Commander of Hizbul in Doda. "He was arrested a few years ago and was released after his jail term," the DIG said.
 

Bilal was accused, along with other militants, in the killing of five village defence committee members.
