MC vice president Dharamveer Verma was arrested from Tikri on the Haryana-Delhi border after conducting a raid there following a tip-off, police said today.

Verma was evading arrest for over one and half months since a criminal case was registered against him under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act.

Police had on May 9 last booked a criminal case of cheating, criminal breach of trust, violation of MC rules and misuse of government office, besides Prevention of Corruption Act on the complaint of the MC secretary Mukesh Kumar in this regard.

The cases had been registered in connection with the building construction plan scam that surfaced some months ago, police said.

Mukesh Kumar in his complaint had charged Verma with misplacing 21 important officials files pertaining to building construction and passing 25 suspicious building plans on the basis of forged documents.
