Absconding youth offender booked for extortion

A case has been registered against a 21-year-old youth for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh from a doctor at New Mandi police station area here.

According to the police, the accused Sourabh Malik had fled from a juvenile home two years ago and had been involved in various criminal activities.

As per the complaint filed by the doctor, Sourabh called him yesterday and demanded Rs 10 lakh as extortion, police said.

An FIR was registered against the accused at the New Mandi police station, they said.

The accused along with his brother Sagar Malik have been named in two murder cases, police said.
 

While Sagar was arrested in gangster Vicky Tyagi murder case in February this year, Sourabh was on the run and active in the crime world, they added.
