"The World of Abstract Realism", an exhibition of paintings by noted Belgam-based artist Anagha Deshpande, began at the Jehangir Art Gallery here.
The week-long exhibition was inaugurated by artist Prakash Bal Joshi on November 12.
Joshi, a former political journalist, described Anagha's paintings as "a peculiar combination of realism and abstraction."

She takes full freedom in her choice of colours, forms and textures but without loosing the sense of proportion and harmony, Joshi said.
Anagha, who has been painting for over 20 years, told reporters that she paints virtually in all mediums - oil, acrylic, water colour, pen, ink and pencil. Her paintings are in private Collections in India as well as abroad.
"Art is a visual expression of one's feelings. It should create a sort of visual poetry to express feelings," Anagha said.
