ABVP activists held for vandalising office of Narayana College

The city police today arrested six ABVP activists last night for allegedly vandalising the office of Narayana Junior College at Narayanaguda.

Narayana group of educational institutions are run by the kin of Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana.

According to B Nagarjuna Reddy, sub-inspector of Narayanaguda Police Station, the activists ransacked the office of manager of Narayana group, alleging that he was harassing women employees and one of them allegedly committed suicide due to his "sexual and mental harassment".

"We arrested the ABVP workers last night. They are being produced in the court today," the police official told PTI.
 

ABVP, in a statement called for a shutdown (bandh) of Narayana educational institutions today demanding the arrest of the concerned official.

The outfit demanded immediate release of their arrested leaders.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central zone) Joel Davis said the ABVP activists also pelted atones at a police car prompting them to book a case under Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, against the agitators.
