The four-day national meet of the Akhil Bharata Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) began at Mannagudda here today.
The conference was inaugurated by Murali Manohar, the National President of ABVP, by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Murali said that the people wanted a political change as they were "fed up" with the inefficient, corrupt and ineffective governance of the Congress party.

He said that the ABVP had guided the students through awareness campaigns. They mobilized students and people on the ground and through social networking sites. The aim of ABVP was to increase the membership from 25 lakh to 50 lakh. The youth should be empowered for a strong nation.
He also said that people wanted good and effective governance and were hoping for a leader with courage, clarity and conviction.
Commercialization of education should be stopped and academic and economic development policies should go hand-in-hand, he said.
ABVP National Organising Secretary Sanil Ambedkar and ABVP National General Secretary Hari Bhorikar were also present.
