Press Trust of India Coimbatore
City-based Gurubrahma Academy of Light Music has taken up a project to promote the talents and create a platform for the physically and visually challenged people, who perform in the public and at traffic signals.

The academy has already identified two persons and given them an opportunity to sing on stages, like marriage functions where they could boost their confidence, G Srinivas, Voice Trainer and Director of the Academy told PTI.

"If honed properly, they could scale greater heights and become playback singers," he said.

Stating that with all training facilities, the academy would identify and approach those who were interested in singing at such functions, he said some could be trained in voice control and modulation and sent to participate in different contests and cine-singing.

Since many of the visually challenged singers have not seen the outside music world, this could be a real platform to come up, he said.

The academy has a 2,000 strong voice bank, male and female, which will be communicated to music directors as per their requirements.
