The Anti-Corruption Bureau today arrested three more persons in the Balganga dam project scam, taking the number of arrested accused to five.

An ACB release this evening said that it had arrested Vijay Kasat, sectional engineer, KIDC, and two partners of a private construction firm, Abid Khatri and Zahid Khatri who are brothers.

ACB officials searched the house of Nissar Khatri -- already arrested -- and seized certain documents, it said.

The examination of the documents revealed that he had purchased stamp papers in 2012 on which back-dated contracts of 2006 were fabricated, it said.

Khatri's firm FA Enterprises had paid for the air travel of some officials of Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation, it said.

Earlier in the day, the special ACB court remanded Nissar Khatri and KIDC official Rajesh Rithe in judicial custody, and also ordered them to be taken to government hospital for medical check-up as Rithe collapsed during the hearing.
