Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials today conducted searches at the residences of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) Additional Commissioner Sanjay Gharat who was arrested yesterday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8 lakh, an official said.
"ACB officials are conducting searches at the residences of Ghart," said Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB), Thane, Kisan Gavli.
However, he refused to divulge any details saying the searches are still on.
Meanwhile, a special court in Kalyan today remanded Gharat and two other accused in police custody till June 17.
Besides Ghrat, ACB had arrested Lalit Amre (42) and Bushan Patil (27)--both clerks in the KDMC.
Gharat was caught while accepting the bribe amount at his office in KDMC headquarters by the sleuths of Thane unit of the ACB.
An ACB officer had said that Gharat had demanded Rs 42 lakh from the complainant for not taking action against his unauthorised constructions, but settled at Rs 35 lakh after negotiations.
