Sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau today detained RTO Inspector of Makhupura in Jalore district for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his income, a senior official said.

The ACB team raided the office and residence of RTO Inspector Om Prakash Choudhary and seized several documents related to investment in properties, bank and insurance besides gold, silver ornaments and luxury cars, DIG (ACB) Narpat Singh Rathore said.

Acting on complaints of illegal collection of money from vehicle owners, the ACB today raided the Tax Collection Center at Makhupura, where Choudhary was posted. They questioned the staff there, including eight security guards and recovered Rs 6,76,210 from the Center.

"On checking the accounts, only Rs 3,10,490 was found to be accounted whereas no record of remaining Rs 3,65,720 was found. None of them could provide a satisfactory answer regarding that unaccounted amount, following which, we seized that amount," the DIG said.

The ACB sleuths detained Choudhury for questioning and also raided his plush residence in Jodhpur.

They recovered luxurious cars, gold and silver worth Rs 4,87,813 and Rs 39,015 cash, besides documents related to property investment, bank, lockers, photographs and video of his daughter's wedding, Rathore said.

"We have seized all documents and instruments pertaining to investments and are investigating expenditure incurred by him in his daughter's luxury wedding," Rathore added.

Choudhury is the son of Up-Zila Pramukh and local Congress leader Heera Lal Mundel.
