ACB files DA case against excise inspector, wife

A case of disproportionate assets was filed by ACB today against an excise inspector and his wife.

"The offence has been registered under sections 13(1)(e), 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 read with section 109 of the IPC with the Rabale police station," the agency stated in a release.

The inspector has been identified as Rajendra Shirsat and his wife Sangeeta.

Shirsat was caught while he was allegedly offering a bribe of a few lakh to a woman for withdrawing the case of molestation she had filed.

"During the open enquiry, the ACB officials detected excess income by Rs 1,42,74,172 over and above his known sources of income for the period between September 2, 1998 and March 3, 2015," the release said.
 

An offence was registered against Shirsat's wife for allegedly helping him in collecting the excess money.

Further investigations are on.
