ACB nabs TTD official for accepting graft

An assistant technical officer attached to the engineering department of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams here today was caught red-handed by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1000 from a contractor.

The official had allegedly demanded Rs 2000 from a local flex sign board contractor for enabling him get the board contract for erection at Srinivasa Mangapuram temple run by TTD near here, Anti-Corruption Bureau sources said.

The contractor approached ACB who laid a trap in TTD administration building today and caught the official red-handed when he was accepting Rs 1000 from the contractor, they said.

He was booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and arrested, they added.
