ACB raids government official's house and seizes assets

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the residence of R V V Prasad serving as an Assistant Director of the Horticulture Department in Srikakulam on Wednesday.

According to the Vizianagaram Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) raids were carried out simultaneously at his residence, his office and houses of his relatives at Sompeta, Palasa and Visakhapatnam.

Prasad, who is also a special officer of the Etcherla mandal, previously worked as an estimate officer in the R R Scheme of the Vamsadhara project.

During the raids, ACB officials seized fixed deposit receipts worth Rs 25 lakh, gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh, four flats and 45 house plots in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam, valued totally at nearly 4 crore.
 

Assets acquired by him were found disproportionate to his known sources of income and a case would be registered against him shortly, the ACB official said.
