The ACC spearheading the agitation for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu today asked the BJP to act before it is too late even as its chain hunger strike entered its 24th consecutive day today.
"BJP needs to act before it is too late. The BJP would gain people's sympathy if it honours its commitment at the earliest. Any delay on its part would not be in its own interest", AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) chairman and President JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma, said here.
"The ACC is not against any political party, as it is non-political movement being supported by all prominent civil society groups and various organisations which control trade, commerce, industry, transport and hotel industry", he said while addressing the gathering at the dharna sthal on High Court Road, here.
The chain huger strike has entered 24nd day as a fresh batch of protesters today took their turn to sit for the day-long hunger strike in support of AIIMS demand for Jammu.
"The strike will continue till demand is not fulfilled", he said.
The ACC resumed the strike on July 21 - after calling off their first leg of strike - after written assurances from Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat to get orders from centre for setting up AIIMS in Jammu.
ACC, an amalgamation of over 70 organisations, is leading the agitation for setting up of an AIIMS in the Jammu region. ACC also held 6-day long bandh starting July 31.
