North Western Railway saw a decline of 72.7 per cent in accident rate in this fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period last year, an official said today.
The accidents were reduced by 72.7 per cent as only three accidents took place in 2016-17 (up to December) compared to 11 accidents in 2015-16, General Manager, NWR, Anil Singhal said.
He said passenger safety, capital and development works, cleanliness and finance and accounting reforms are the major focus of the railways.
NWR recorded 94.94 per cent punctuality till December 16 last year, he added.
