Accidental blast at army camp in Kashmir injures 18 soldiers

18 soldiers were injured today when an explosive went off accidentally during training at an army camp about 30 kms from here in Pulwama district, prompting army to order an inquiry.

"In an unfortunate accidental incident which occurred at Army Training Camp Khreu in the morning today, 18 army personnel were injured," a statement by army said.

They are under treatment at Army Base Hospital, it added.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident, the statement said.

Earlier, Defence spokesman Col N N Joshi told PTI that all the injured personnel were airlifted to the Base Hospital at Badamibagh Cantonment in Srinagar. "The condition of all of them is stable as of now," he said.
 

"It is a matter of investigation as to what exactly caused the blast," Col Joshi said.
