Accommodation aggregator Wudstay has acquired Awesome Stays for an undisclosed amount, a move that will help strengthen its foothold in the budget accommodation space in the country.

The acquisition marks WudStay's entry into six new markets including Varanasi, Goa, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Pune, it said in a statement.

Founded in April this year, Wudstay had raised funding of USD three million from Mangrove Capital Partners and Nimbuzz CEO Vikas Saxena, last month.

Currently, it has presence in Gurgaon, Manali, Delhi, Corbett, Haridwar and Jaipur.

As a part of the acquisition, Awesome Stays CEO Deepak Sharma and his team will join Wudstay, it said.

"The acquisition of Awesome Stays has come in at a time when Wudstay is aggressively looking at expanding its network across cities. Deepak has been running Awesome Stays for 2 years and his experience will help us a lot," Wudstay founder and CEO Prafulla Mathur said.

The company is looking at expanding its network to 65 new cities in the next 18 months, he added.
