Account assistant held for accepting Rs 5000 in bribe

A senior Account Assistant attached to the King George Hospital here was arrested by ACB today for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000 from a junior employee in the hospital.

The complainant was appointed as a sweeper on compassionate grounds after death of his mother.

"M Nookaraju had allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 from the complainant for releasing pension benefits of his mother," said deputy Superintendent of Police (Visakha Urban), ACB, K Ramakrishna Prasad.

However, he finally agreed to accept Rs 5,000, following which the complainant approached the ACB which in turn laid a trap.

The agency laid a trap and apprehended the officer, the dySP added.
