A magistrate court here today remanded Yuvraj, the main accused in the recent murder of Dalit youth Gokulraj, to judicial custody for 15 days.

Chief Judicial Magistrate S Malarmathy passed the remand order when Yuvraj was produced in the court by the Crime Branch-CID, investigating the case, on expiry of his extended police custody.

He was taken to Vellore Central Prison amid tight security.

Leader of a caste outfit, Yuvaraj, who was on the run, surrendered before CB-CID on October 11 after a court here issued an arrest warrant against him in connection with the murder in June last.

Initially, the court granted five days CB-CID custody and extended it by two days on October 17, accepting a request by the investigating agency.

A woman DSP, who was investigating the case, committed suicide last month due to alleged pressure by her superiors in connection with the probe into the murder which had caste connotations.
