The accused in the hit-and-run case in Delhi's Hari Nagar area, which had triggered outrage as the victim lay bleeding on the road for nearly an hour even as people walked past him, was nabbed by the police this evening.
"Based on the CCTV footage from the accident site, the accused identified as the driver of the tempo delivery van, Rajesh, has been nabbed," said a senior police officer.
Earlier, the police had identified the vehicle through its telltale signs as were seen in the CCTV footage and reached to its driver Rajesh who lived at Mahavir Nagar in Uttam Nagar area. The accused was absconding and manhunt was launched to nab him.

The entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed near Ajanta cinema in Subhash Nagar where the accident had occurred around 5 am yesterday.
Matibul who worked as a security guard was walking back to his home when he was hit by the van. The whole incident as well as the injured Matibul lying on the road and people passing him was recorded by the CCTV camera. The recording also showed a rickshaw puller coming near him and then taking away his phone.
The deceased was a native of West Bengal and lived near Tihar village in a rented accommodation.

Police registered a case under relevant sections of IPC.
The delivery van driven by the accused Rajesh, 25, for supplying milk, had stopped briefly after it hit Matibul but he sped away after watching him lying on the road.
Police said the CCTV footage showed that during the 30 minutes while the victim was lying on the road bleeding and writhing in pain, 140 cars, 82 three-wheelers, 181 bikers and 45 pedestrians passed him with not a single one stopping to help him.
Police said that the family was informed about the tragedy and they were on their way to Delhi.
The victim was sole earning member of his family which lived in West Bengal. He lived with his brother in Delhi who had gone to their native place.
Matibul used to work hard as an e-rickshaw driver in the day and later double as security guard in the night to send a few thousand rupees to his family in West Bengal, said a police officer who contacted father of the victim.
The officer quoted victim's father Bashiruddin as saying that he was "appalled" by the footage of the accident beamed continuously during the day by the television channels.
He told police that Matibul had talked recently to him about his plan to visit home as he was concerned about proper care of his young son.
