Accused in Yug killing case thrashed in courtyard by mob

Two of the three accused in Yug murder case, who were being taken to be produced in a court here today were badly thrashed by a mob in the court premises even as they were remanded in 14 days of judicial custody.

The five-day remand of Chander and Tejinder Singh ended today and the people, aware of the fact, assembled in the court premisesin huge numbers.

As soon as the accused, accompanied by police reached the court yard, they were attacked and policehad hard time rescuing them from the wanton attack.

Police whisked away the accused and they were produced in the court of Judicial magistrate later, who remanded them in 14-day judicial custody.
 

Four-year-old Yug was abducted on June 14,2014 and murdered after seven days by his abductors. His body was recovered in a water tank in Kelston area on August 22.

During the interrogation, the accused had revealed about the inhuman torture Yug was subjected to before being dumped in the water tank alive.

Meanwhile, people paid homage to Yug by lighting candles at Ridge beneath the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Ridge around dusk and with burning candles in their hands and paid tribute to the departed soul.
