A 23-year-old shepherd in Rajasthan's Churu district has alleged that he was tied to a tree and thrashed by a group of local residents who accused him of harassing girls, police said today.
The incident took place on May 26 in a village under the Sandwa police station where the victim, Moolchand, was grazing his sheep in a hamlet, investigating officer Bajrang Lal said.
Accusing him of harassing girls, some local residents asked Moolchand to leave with his sheep, he said.
Shortly after, the accused allegedly caught Moolchand, took him to a nearby temple and beat him up after tying him to a tree, Lal added.
He said that the accused recorded the assault and the video went viral online.
Moolchand lodged an FIR yesterday.
No arrests have been made so far and a probe is underway, the investigating officer said.
