Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh Secretary Mohammed Shamsuddin, who has been accused by a woman player of sexually harassing her, today attended the Executive Committee meeting of the AIFF, the national parent body.

Shamsuddin has been accused by a woman footballer of sexually harassing her while she was attending a 15-day camp in preparation for the just-concluded National Championships at Golaghat in Assam. He is out on bail after being arrested last month in Varanasi.

He is also the vice-chairman of AIFF finance committee.

According to the AIFF, "till the time he is proved guilty in the court of law, Shamsuddin is eligible to attend meetings".

Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association had asked the Indian Olympic Association to take action against the state football body and the AIFF for remaining silent on the issue.

Asked about Shamsuddin's prsence in the meeting, an AIFF official who attended today's executive committee meeting said, "A person is innocent until proven guilty. It's for the IOA to take action. The state Olympic body has no jurisdiction over Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh."

IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta had last week said that it has asked the AIFF to furnish the details of the case and whether it plans to take any action against Shamsuddin.

"We have asked the AIFF to tell us the details of the case and if they plan to take any action," Mehta said.
