The Assam Police has made considerable achievements in respect of infrastructure, mobility, weapons, security related equipment, communication, forensics, cyber crime lab etc. Under MPF Schemes from 2000 to 2013, a police department spokesman said today.
During the period Assam Police utilised Rs 503.19 crore (85.5 per cent) out of released amount of Rs 588.74 crore by the Centre under the Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF) Schemes for Assam.
In infrastructure, several police stations and outpost buildings (308), quarters (1,943) and other buildings (281) were constructed and work of several buildings were progressing, the spokesman said.

In mobility, Assam Police procured various types of vehicles (1,594), motor cycles (1,973), Riot Control Vehicles (12) and five Traffic Interceptor Vehicles, he said.
On the other hand, the force procured various sophisticated arms, ammunition and explosives, different security related equipment such as Bomb Blanket (248), Hand Held Metal Detectors (791), Door Frame Metal Detectors (250), Bullet Proof Morcha (370) and various types of modern gadgets.
Moreover, various types of modern communication equipment were also procured under MPF Schemes, he said.
In CID, a state-of-the art Cyber Crime Cell and Forensic laboratory have been established and various types of simulators and training aids like computer, laptop, projector etc. Were procured, the spokesman said.
Computer Aided Dispatch System (GIS/GPS based Dial 100 Project) for Guwahati City Police Control was also installed for quick response, he added.
