: CPI(M) veteran and former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today visited parents of the two sisters who died allegedly after sexual abuse at Walayar in the district.

Talking to reporters, Achuthanandan alleged that there was a lapse on the part of police in investigating the crime.

"Police seems to be with the accused rather than with the victims', Achuthanandan, also the State Administrative Reforms Committee Chairman, said.

The mother of the children asked the CPI(M) veteran to ensure justice for them.

Achuthanandan had raised the issue in the assembly on March 7, saying that lapses on the part of police caused the death.

The two siblings aged nine and 11 year-were found dead within a period of 52-days beginning January 12 last.

Meanwhile, two more persons were arrested in connection with the incident, taking the total number of those arrested to four.
