A case has been lodged by the police against unidentified persons here in connection with an acid attack on a 40-year-old woman. Sources told PTI that the suspect in the case was a police constable.

The woman was attacked with acid at Chithera village here a few days back, the police said today, adding that the victim had suffered 10-12% burn injuries in the incident.

She was taken to a hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged.

Sources said the woman was recently involved in a scuffle with Sandeep (22), a police constable and a resident of the village.

The woman's dog had urinated on the wall of the police constable's house which had led to a scuffle between the two, they said, adding that the neighbours had to intervene to pacify Sandeep.

The police was probing if the constable had any role to play in the acid attack on the woman, sources said.
