Acid hurled at woman

An unidentified man hurled acid on a 26-year-old woman in her house in Shakarpur area of east Delhi, police said today.

"The incident took place at around 10 PM last night when the victim opened the door after somebody rang the doorbell of her house where she lives with her parents in Mangal Bazar, Laxmi Nagar," a police officer said.

As soon as she opened the door, the assailant threw acid on her and fled from the spot, the officer said.

Her parents informed police following which she was taken to the nearby Lal Bahadur Shashtri hospital where she was provided medical aid, he said, adding that she suffered minor burn injuries and was discharged after first aid from the hospital.
 

A case has been registered in this connection and a manhunt launched to nab the assailant, police said.

The victim's husband is also being questioned as both of them are separated. They had married in February last year, police said.
