Mahabole in his bail application, which is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow, has said that he has been falsely implicated and has refuted all the allegations.

According to Mahabole, the lady was blackmailing him and sending him threatening messages since long. When the police officer informed the lady's husband about the same, she lodged a false complaint with top brass of the city police.

The FIR was registered against Mahabole yesterday after an internal inquiry conducted against him nailed his involvement in the crime.

The woman alleged that Mahabole had repeatedly raped her over the past eight months.

According to police, the lady alleged that the ACP, who is presently posted in a side branch, had visited her residence eight months ago and allegedly offered her sweets and after consuming which she fell unconscious.

According to the woman, when she regained consciousness, Mahabole showed her an MMS clipping in which she was seen in a compromising position with him.

She alleged that the senior officer repeatedly raped her by threatening to make the clipping public over eight months.

Unable to cope with the torture, she approached the higher-ups in the department last week, police said, adding that subsequently an inquiry was ordered against Mahabole.

As the inquiry found his role in the crime, an FIR was registered against him, police said.

Mahabole had earlier been questioned in connection with senior journalist J Dey's murder case in June last year suspecting his role in the killing as Dey had written several articles mentioning his links with the D-Company, the gang operated by Dawood Ibrahim. PTI SP NSK
