Kerala High Court today upheld the acquittal of popular Malayalam actor Jagathy Sreekumar, bedridden now after a road accident, in the infamous Vithura sex scandal case of 1996.
Justice P Bhavadasan observed that there were no grounds to interfere with the findings of trial court which acquitted Sreekumar.
The court also said that there is no evidence to prove the alleged offence against Sreekumar.

Earlier, though Director General of Prosecution submitted that in view of physical condition of Jagathy the state did not propose to take up the appeal, the court proceeded with the hearing of case.
Jagathy Sreekumar was seriously injured in a road accident on March 10, 2012 and since then been confined to bed.
The case pertained to a minor girl from Vithura, in Thiruvananthapuram district, being allegedly abducted and raped at various places across the state from November 1995 to May 1996.
