Action ordered against CMO for alleged laxity in fund spending

District authorities here have ordered action against the chief medical officer (CMO) for his alleged laxity in using the funds under the Arogya Nidhi for year 2016-17.

The order was issued by District Magistrate of Amethi, Yogesh Kumar, yesterday after a review meeting with officials concerned for development works on the premises of district collectorate at Gauriganj, the district headquarters.

The DM has asked all the officials to spend funds according to rules, while emphasising that works should be completed within scheduled time and its quality maintained.

CMO Anand Ojha could not be contacted immediately for his response.

Meanwhile, the state government has passed an order, transferring CMO Ojha from Amethi to Basti.
 

Dr Rajesh Mohan Srivastava will be new CMO of Amethi, the order said.

Srivastava was earlier the joint director of health in state government.
