Press Trust of India Mumbai
Social activist Mohammed Kasim Khan, whose sting operation led to suspension of 36 police personnel from Nehru Nagar police station for allegedly accepting bribe, today sought the Bombay High Court to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.

Khan had conducted a sting operation in April showing police personnel attached to the Nehru Nagar police station in suburban Kurla accepting bribe for allowing illegal construction in the area.

Following the sting operation, 36 police officials were suspended and the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered FIR against them.

Khan's advocate today, however, told a division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice M S Sanklecha that the ACB probe has not progressed and hence a SIT should be formed to look into the case.

He also sought protection for Khan and his family who are being threatened by the accused police officials.

The high court would be hearing the matter tomorrow.
