:Around 200 activists of the farmer's wing of BJP's Puducherry unit courted arrest today when they tried to picket the Assembly in protest against government's 'failure' to implement welfare schemes for farmers.
The agitators came in a procession from neighbouring Pillaithottam and were held by police before they reached the Assembly.
They raised slogans criticising the 'failure' of the government to enforce several welfare measures the NDA government had brought into effect to ameliorate the lot of farmers.
